"CUsco - Calca - Pitusiray - QAN QAN LAKE"
The snow-capped Pitusiray, is located in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, department of Cusco has an altitude of 5369 meters above sea level, this trip to Pitusiray, we will know pre-Inca constructions from the Killke period and natural attractions such as the lagoon of Qan Qan.
The pitusiray trek is a great alternative for the Inca Trail trek and better suited for more adventurous trekkers who are able to handle higher altitude and longer distances. Ascending to reach the famous antena Pass at 4200 MASL - 5369FASL is not too strenuous since it is at the beginning of the trek, neither is it very steep, but it does require stamina and a little time in Cusco to acclimatize to the altitude before beginning the trek.
We left early to travel by car for 1 hour to the town of Calca. During this day we will walk approximately 6 hours up to Qan Qan Lake (4.190 m.s.), where we will camp and dine all afternoon to be able to rest next to the qan qan lagoon.
Walking Distance – 10km / 5.45 milesAfter breakfast we will begin our trekking to know the surroundings. We will visit the pre-Inca constructions of the Killke period (800 AD) as well as dams and Inca canals. Then we will ascend for 2 hours to the lagoon of Pitusiray to see up close the Nevado de Pitusiray and the monolith of Qan Qan.
After lunch we will ascend another way to see the monolith of "Los Bailarines".
After lunch we start the 4 hour descent to Calca, where our mobility will take us to Cusco.
